Westinghouse were modernising a large part of their nuclear power plant in Ringhals, Sweden, and needed around 300 rooms for Swedish, German and American workers brought in for the project. Bibby Challenge was well suited to this brief.

Hiring a number of hotels a distance away from the project would have caused logistical issues. Bibby Challenge was the perfect solution for Westinghouse to house their entire workforce in high quality accommodation on their work site. Two years later, Westinghouse returned to us to hire Bibby Bergen for a similar project.

The Ringhals nuclear power plant is one of the largest power plants in Scandinavia, situated approximately 60km south of Gothenburg. An advantage of using our floating hotel was that Bibby Challenge was built to Scandinavian/Swedish regulations – which enabled the swift processing of permits relating to fire, ventilation, safety and sanitation. The facilities and the well-equipped recreation rooms were of a significantly higher standard than that of the regular site hotel where workers would normally stay for outage works.

“The accommodation and the full service provided by Bibby Maritime proved to be very successful, and were very well received among the workers. It is totally hassle-free for the workers; they can relax in the internet lounge, play pool, table tennis, or work out in the gym, or just relax and watch TV in the lounges with fellow colleagues. Bibby Challenge provided high standard accommodation, along with the flexibility required to serve the complex needs of this project”
