Innogy/James Fisher Marine Services worked on a wind turbine generator commissioning project in 2017 in the well-known Galloper Wind Farm located 30km off the coast of Suffolk. Galloper Wind Farm has 56 wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 353 megawatts and generates enough energy each year to power up to 380,700 average UK households.

Our client completed their commissioning programme using safe planned crew transfer vessels without detrimental winter weather impacting on their Walk to Work performance. The client specialised in renewables. The charter period was from Sept 2017 to March 2018.The gangway performed well, and access gates were vital to ensure smooth delivery of the project. The WaveMaster 1 generated low fuel burn figures (4-5m3 per day) and the 3 knot current although at times difficult was swiftly controlled by skilled navigation from our crew.

The vessel outperformed its target for every month of contract and we received positive feedback on our vessel, crew and innovative “new sector approach from Bibby”.

“The Bibby WaveMaster 1 and her team have helped us deliver our ambitious commissioning programme for the project on time; this is made all the more impressive as we did it during one of the wildest winters we’ve had for many years.  In some instances their efforts have exceeded expectations and brought forward the commissioning programme by using their Uptime Walk-2-Work system”
