Bibby Stockholm arrived in Lerwick, Shetland Islands in April 2013, for a ten month charter to accommodate Petrofac workers from the Laggan Tormore project; a large engineering, procurement, supply, construction and commissioning contract to develop the new Shetland Gas Plant. Laggan and Tormore, two gas and condensate fields are situated about 125km north-west of the Shetland Islands. They are located 16km apart in the North Sea, the Laggan-Tormore project involved the development of the two fields and construction of a gas processing plant and export pipeline.

The existing berth in Lerwick Port was well known by Bibby Marine (formerly Maritime), and meant that hook up was easy and the vessel was up and running very quickly.

Bibby Stockholm underwent a major refurbishment programme prior to the charter with Petrofac, and offered 222 en suite bedrooms, a kitchen and restaurant, tv and games rooms, a gymnasium and wi‑fi throughout. Bibby Stockholm received positive feedback from the workers staying onboard and Petrofac continued working with Marine for an extra 8 months.

“We chartered Bibby Stockholm to accommodate our workers on the Laggan Tormore project in the Shetlands, and the available berth in Lerwick port allowed a fast and easy hook up. The vessel arrived well in advance and was welcomed by those living onboard. The quality of the vessel was excellent, and the en-suite bedrooms and public facilities were well received amongst our workers”
