As Fleet Manager – Technical you will lead the technical team responsible for assigned Vessels and Floating Accommodation Barges (FAB’s) and
to ensure that Vessels and FAB’s are operated to the highest standard in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and in accordance with Company’s policies, procedures and standards. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure Health and Safety is adhered to at all times. All new starters receive Health and Safety training as part of their induction. All employees should make themselves aware of and understand their responsibilities as detailed within the Integrated Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Management System (IMS).
Responsibilities as a Fleet Manager – Technical
As an individual and in support of the senior management team demonstrate leadership and commitment in ensuring that the IMS is implemented and maintained consistent with the strategic direction of the Company. This includes:
• Demonstrate leadership and commitment for customer focus by engaging with, directing and supporting employees and subcontractors to contribute to a safe and effective IMS.
• Ensuring that IMS responsibilities and authorities are assigned, communicated and understood within the organisation.
• Establish and communicate Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Policy and objectives.
• Ensuring that resource needs for the IMS are available.
In particular responsibilities include:
• To be fully familiar with the vessel/FAB structure and layout.
• To be fully familiar with the Integrated Management System.
• To ensure that all personnel joining the vessel/FAB as crew members for the first time are made familiar, through initial safety induction, the vessel’s management system, safety arrangements and requirements, instructions and facilities.
• To ensure that appropriate updating of knowledge on these points is provided to established personnel whenever any changes occur in the management system, equipment or safety instructions.
• Managing the day to day activities of the technical team to ensure its efficiency in the provision of the management services required for all vessels/FAB’s.
• Responsible for all vessel/FAB certification and compliance with all statutory, regulatory and Industry best practice.
• In conjunction with Fleet Manager (Operations), compile the annual running cost budgets for the vessels
• In conjunction with Fleet Manager (Operations), manage running costs effectively
• In conjunction with Fleet Manager (Operations), review Vessel Monthly running costs and forecasts before submission to the Exec team
• Ensure internal audit requirements are met, and assist with client audits
• Ensure external audits/survey requirements are met
• Ensuring that the vessels are adequately staffed and that satisfactory levels of experience are available at all times
• In conjunction with Fleet Manager (Operations), Review of the annual vessel operating budgets and presenting to the Technical & Operations Director for approval. To monitor the development of actual costs throughout the year and ensure that all costs are vigorously controlled
• In conjunction with Fleet Manager (Operations) ensure internal audit requirements are set and met, and focal point of client audits. Ensure closeout registers are completed on time.
• Responsible for ensuring that the Planned Maintenance system on each vessel/FAB is appropriate in content and frequency – continuous monitoring and improvement
• Responsible for determining each vessel/FAB’s min max spares inventory, and ensuring that this is complied with. Define which vessel/FAB’s spares should be retained onshore.
• Ensuring that the technical team is adequately staffed and that satisfactory levels of experience are available at all times.
• Closely monitoring the vessel/FAB performance, maintenance and repair programmes, dry dockings, deficiencies, Class and Flag surveys and to ensure that these are completed within the required time.
• Monitoring of vessel/FAB visits to ensure that vessels/FAB’s are regularly inspected. Ensuring that internal and external reports are completed within the agreed schedule.
• Approving the dry docking specification and any other major repair works prior to tendering.
• Responsible for assessing any potential upgrades which have been requested for the vessels/FAB’s, and for the preparation of Cost Benefit Analysis reports for presentation to the Technical & Operations Director.
• Assisting in any emergency response as required.
• Any other duties as required by the Technical & Operations Director.

All personnel are required to abide by the environmental protection processes in place and to actively participate in REDUCING, REUSING and RECYCLING schemes in place. All efforts to reduce emissions of Green House Gases through elimination, substitution, reduction or new / improved technologies must be considered through all activities.
As our Fleet Manager – Technical you will have:
• A qualified Class 1 Marine Engineer, and to have held a senior position for 10 years within the shipping industry onshore and offshore.
• A skilled organiser and communicator at all levels.
• Committed to vigorous quality and cost control.
• Computer literate.
